Spain battles spreading wildfires fuelled by climate-change driven heat
world
Wildfires are spreading across Spain, forcing authorities to evacuate several districts around the city of Toledo, about seventy-five miles from Madrid. France 24 reports the blazes are part of a wider wave scorching western Europe, with parts of southern France and Italy also burning. The fires are being fueled by extreme heat that scientists link to climate change. According to the European Forest Fire Information System, more than three hundred ninety-three thousand hectares burned in Spain in twenty twenty-five, the worst toll in the country's recent history.
