US-Saudi nuclear deal relies on it recognising Israel, says Trump – Middle East crisis live

world

President Trump says a proposed US nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia would hinge on the kingdom recognizing Israel by joining the Abraham Accords, The Guardian reports, citing a post on his Truth Social platform this Thursday. The disclosure comes amid a widening confrontation with Iran: the Houthis claimed strikes on two Saudi tankers, and Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it had halted three oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to The Guardian, Trump also threatened that any future Iranian attack on a ship in the strait would prompt the United States to bomb a bridge or power plant, including sites in or near Tehran. The Abraham Accords are the US-brokered agreements under which several Arab states normalized ties with Israel.
