Exclusive: Trump "close" to decision on "massive attack" on Iran

politics

President Trump told Axios on Thursday that he's seriously considering restarting major military operations against Iran — with strikes he said would be bigger than previous operations. However, two U.S. officials confirmed no decision has been made and no new orders have been given to the military. The current escalation, which has accelerated over the last twelve days, has already sent oil prices above one hundred dollars per barrel. The conflict centers on Iran-backed attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, with Houthi rebels in Yemen also striking vessels in the Red Sea. Trump said Iranian leadership wants to negotiate, but suggested they haven't yet felt enough pressure to make a deal.
