Adafruit released a new tutorial for building a USB sampling keyboard with CircuitPython. You can record audio samples via microphone and play them back at different pitches using a USB MIDI keyboard, or load MIDI files to automatically play entire songs. The guide showcases recent CircuitPython features including I2S microphone recording, audio file writing, and granular pitch shifting — all newly available in the latest development release. Samples are stored on a micro SD card and persist when the device powers off.
