France is on red alert as an extreme heat wave breaks records. According to France 24, yesterday marked the hottest day the country has ever recorded. The scorching temperatures are bringing severe drought conditions and dramatically raising the risk of forest fires across multiple departments, particularly in the southwest. Several blazes have already ignited. Firefighters have brought one fire under control, but they're still battling another active blaze as emergency services remain on high alert.
