Microsoft responds to LG monitors installing McAfee ads on Windows

Per Ars Technica, LG is pulling McAfee ads from an app that has been quietly installing itself on Windows computers alongside monitor driver updates. The LG Monitor App Installer pushes pop-ups promoting McAfee's thirty-day free trial and other software to users' systems. Gamers Nexus verified the issue across multiple Windows 11 systems, including one LG UltraGear gaming monitor that was priced at twelve hundred dollars but dropped to six hundred dollars just two days after purchase. LG is now removing the ads following public complaints.
