Trump administration announces new tariffs on 85 countries, claiming failed ‘forced labor’ enforcement – US politics live

politics

The Trump administration announced tariffs on more than eighty-five countries on Wednesday, per The Guardian, including Canada, Mexico, Australia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and China. The administration frames the measure as a response to what it calls failed enforcement of labor protections. The announcement follows a Supreme Court decision that struck down the administration's earlier tariff program. Separately, the House of Representatives passed a war powers resolution curtailing the Trump administration's military operations in Iran by a vote of two hundred fourteen to two hundred eight—a bipartisan measure supported by all Democrats and four Republicans.
