Sberbank to close foreign-currency and multicurrency Visa and Mastercard cards starting September 1

Russia's largest bank, Sberbank, is discontinuing its foreign-currency and multicurrency Visa and Mastercard cards starting September first, Meduza reports. These cards have been non-functional outside Russia since Visa and Mastercard withdrew in twenty-twenty-two. Customers will need to close the accounts and transfer their balances to savings accounts in the same currency as their card. The bank had previously extended the validity of these cards through twenty-thirty.
