Qantas tests new ultra-long-range Airbus in 17,000km direct flight from France to Melbourne

The Guardian reports that Qantas has tested the Airbus A350-1000ULR, an ultra-long-range aircraft designed for Project Sunrise, the airline's initiative to establish direct routes between Australia and Europe. The aircraft completed a nineteen-hour nonstop test flight from Toulouse, France, to Melbourne, covering seventeen thousand kilometers. The successful test is a major milestone for Qantas's ambition to operate some of the world's longest commercial routes.
