Norwegian startup raises $6M to fix this sneaky source of energy waste

tech

According to Canary Media, a Norwegian startup has raised six million dollars to tackle an overlooked source of industrial energy waste: heating cables. The company's founder, Mikal Løvik, spent years in offshore oil and gas operations and noticed that cables designed to prevent equipment from freezing typically run at full power all the time, even when unnecessary. His new venture is developing smarter cable systems that only draw full power when needed, eliminating waste while keeping critical equipment protected in harsh marine environments.
