Ireland urged to put pressure on Germany over pro-Palestinian activist’s trial

politics

The Guardian reports that Irish politicians are pressing their government to send observers to a trial in Germany and to raise concerns about an Irish defendant's detention. The so-called Ulm 5 activists face charges over an attack on an Israeli arms company. A cross-party delegation including Sinn Féin's Mairéad Farrell attended a hearing in Stuttgart this week and is calling on Prime Minister Micheál Martin to dispatch official monitors and to address the case of Daniel Tatlow-Devally when the German chancellor visits next week.
