Study challenges a common belief about vitamin D and sunlight
health
A new study challenges a common belief about vitamin D and sunlight. According to ScienceDaily, researchers examined nearly three hundred people in northern Britain and found that vitamin D levels stayed low year-round for vulnerable groups. Most surprisingly, summer sunshine did not significantly boost vitamin D levels among older adults or people from minoritized ethnic backgrounds. The findings suggest that sun exposure alone may not be enough for some populations to maintain healthy vitamin D, and alternative strategies may be needed.
