Residents there have been told to flee using hundreds of mobilised boats or the single road that links the area to the mainland. The paper says the country's south-east is being hit hard too, with dozens of fires fanned by the mistral wind around the historic village of Cotignac, where officials report around twenty-five houses destroyed since Tuesday. In Spain, crews are battling to stop separate wildfires from merging near Madrid.
