Burnham urged to lobby EU leaders directly to waive EES border controls

Per The Guardian, the Liberal Democrats are pushing Andy Burnham to lobby European Union leaders to suspend the European Entry-Exit System—or EES. Designed to screen travelers at EU borders, the system has been criticized as malfunctioning. The call for suspension couldn't come at a worse moment: two point two million British holidaymakers are expected to travel abroad this coming weekend, most heading to Europe as UK schools break for summer.
