The largest cyclosporiasis outbreak on record keeps growing. The Guardian reports that federal investigations expanded to nine states this week, with more than eleven thousand five hundred people suspected of being sickened this summer. According to the outbreak data, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed over four thousand laboratory cases and is investigating roughly seventy-four hundred more. Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic infection that can cause severe, prolonged diarrhea, and this summer's caseload marks the biggest such outbreak the agency has ever tracked.
