The largest cyclosporiasis outbreak on record is spreading across the United States. According to The Guardian, CDC investigations expanded to nine states this week as more than eleven thousand five hundred people are suspected to have been sickened this summer. The agency has confirmed over four thousand one hundred seventy-three cases, with another seventy-four hundred under investigation. Cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness spread through contaminated food and water, causes severe gastrointestinal illness.
