White House says Trump to give ‘unifying yet vicious’ speech at rescheduled press gala

The White House correspondents' dinner is finally under way in Washington, three months after the original April event was called off when a man fired a shotgun at a security checkpoint outside the ballroom. The Guardian reports that Donald Trump arrived at the Waldorf Astoria for the rescheduled gala, which organizers say will feel smaller and closer than the one evacuated after shots were fired inside the hotel, in what was suspected to be a targeting of the president and his administration. The White House has billed his remarks as a speech that will be, in their words, unifying yet vicious.
