UK’s largest Muslim event goes ahead with added security as hate crime rises

The UK's largest Muslim convention is proceeding in Hampshire with significantly expanded security. The Guardian reports that Jalsa Salana has brought in several hundred additional security personnel to work alongside police, emergency services, and local authorities. The precaution reflects sharply rising anti-Muslim hate crimes in the UK. The heightened security follows another Islamic gathering that was forced to close last month after twelve people were arrested, including three on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder over a suspected far-right threat.
