UNESCO adds Sebastia site to World Heritage List despite Israeli objections

UNESCO has inscribed Sebastia, an archaeological site in the West Bank, along with castles in southern Lebanon to its World Heritage List. The decision, made at a UNESCO meeting in South Korea on Friday, drew sharp objection from Israel, which had urged the committee to reject both nominations. Israel's Foreign Ministry characterized the effort as a 'weaponization of cultural heritage.'
