About seventy million people across the southern and central United States are bracing for dangerous heat as excessive-heat advisories go into effect, The Guardian reports. Forecasters expect temperatures between ninety-five and one hundred five degrees Fahrenheit, stretching from the Gulf of Mexico coast across the Great Plains and into the Midwest. It's the third major heat dome to build over the country in the past month, and The Guardian says this one is gathering strength over the weekend.
