Evacuated villagers in Cairngorms allowed home after wildfire threat lifts

world

Residents of Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorms have been allowed to return home after the immediate threat from a large wildfire lifted. The Guardian reports that Police Scotland's Superintendent Judy Hill credited fire crews, gamekeepers, contractors and other partners for their efforts over the previous twenty-four hours. The blaze had burned for ten days in the national park, and Scotland's first minister, who had earlier requested UK military assistance to help fight it, thanked residents and aid workers.
