world

Berlin's Gay Pride celebrations were cut short on Saturday night after a car drove into the crowd on the outskirts of the event, killing at least one person and wounding sixteen others. The Guardian reports that the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, has vowed to punish those responsible for the attack, which forced organisers to call off one of Europe's largest Pride marches. The paper notes that Germany remains on edge after a series of deadly vehicle and knife attacks in recent years.
