Delta Pen Plotter Draws In Multiple Colors

tech

Hackaday reports on a multi-color delta pen plotter built by András Vujovits. This build ditches the traditional Cartesian approach for a linkage-based motion system—two stepper motors drive the mechanism to position the pen in XY space, all controlled by an Arduino Nano with a GRBL shield. What really sets it apart is the magnetic tool changer, a mechanism that lets the plotter swap between Muji ball-point pens in different colors without losing accuracy. The plotter is also remarkably fast, thanks to Vujovits' smart design—he kept the pen carriage light by offloading the lifting actuator to the main frame. Plans are available for anyone interested in building one.
