Berlin Pride van and knife rampage an ‘Islamist terrorist attack’, say German authorities

German authorities say a van and knife attack near Berlin's Pride festival was an Islamist terrorist attack. The Guardian reports a man drove a minivan into pedestrians in Tiergarten park, near the Brandenburg Gate, then stabbed people with what appeared to be a machete, killing one person and injuring twenty-nine others. The assault happened around ten p.m. on Saturday, close to one of Europe's largest LGBTQ celebrations. Authorities have named the main suspect as twenty-one-year-old Abdul Ballout, and a manhunt is underway.
