A Music Box With A Very Modern Heart

Hackaday covered a clever update to the ballerina music box by maker ShielaDixon. She preserved the clockwork mechanism and the dancing ballerina, but replaced the traditional comb with a microcontroller programmed to play sampled notes from the original comb, recreating that distinctive music box sound under instruction from text files. The enhancement allows the ballerina to perform far longer and with a much more varied repertoire than the original clockwork design permitted.
