Venezuela experienced a pair of devastating earthquakes on Wednesday, with buildings collapsing in the capital, Caracas. According to the US Geological Survey, a magnitude seven point one quake struck near Morón at a depth of thirteen kilometers. Just one minute later, a more powerful seven point five magnitude earthquake hit about sixteen kilometers southwest of Morón, at a depth of ten kilometers. The back-to-back tremors caused significant structural damage in the densely populated capital, with buildings collapsing as rescue operations got underway.
