Trump admin exempts SpaceX's Starlink from FCC ban on foreign-made routers

The FCC recently imposed a ban on consumer routers made outside the United States over national security concerns. Ars Technica reports that the Trump administration has now exempted SpaceX's Starlink from that ban, with Department of Defense approval. The exemption holds through February first, twenty twenty-eight. The move triggered an industry-wide scramble, since virtually all routers are either manufactured abroad or contain foreign components—meaning most major vendors will need to seek their own exemptions.
