2 major earthquakes strike northern Venezuela, near Caracas

Venezuela's northern region, including the capital Caracas, was struck by two powerful earthquakes in rapid succession. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a seven point two magnitude quake, followed less than a minute later by a seven point five magnitude earthquake. The second event marked the strongest earthquake to hit the country in more than a century.
