US airman accused of ‘spree’ of rapes on sleeping women avoided UK courts

A US airman accused of a spree of rapes and sexual assaults on women in England was never brought before a British court, after Suffolk police ceded part of the investigation to the American military, The Guardian reports. Two British women went to police in August twenty nineteen, alleging that James Loubeau and a second airman had drugged and raped them after a night out at a club in Bury St Edmunds, with some victims allegedly asleep and others' homes broken into. The case instead went to a US court martial, which ended in acquittal.
