Fire evacuees start returning home in France's scorched southwest

Fire evacuees in southwestern France are beginning to return home as authorities say the blazes in the Gironde region have been stabilized, though not yet fully extinguished. France 24 reports the country's interior minister put the burned area at some forty thousand hectares. Some residents have been cleared to go back, while others remain under evacuation orders as crews continue working the fire.
