A major earthquake measuring magnitude seven point one struck southwestern Japan on Tuesday, causing a shopping mall to collapse in the town of Kashima. Local broadcasters report a considerable number of deaths at the Aeon mall, with others still trapped inside as rescue efforts continue, France 24 says.
