Exclusive: Co-Founded By Former Whoop CTO, Throne Science Raises $10M To Track Gut Health From The Toilet

health

Throne Science, an AI-powered toilet camera system for gut health tracking, has raised ten million dollars in a Series A round, according to Crunchbase News. The company was co-founded by Scott Hickle and John Capodilupo, the former CTO of fitness tracker Whoop. The device uses computer vision—a pipeline of multiple AI models, some trained by gastroenterologists—to analyze stool and urine and generate personalized health insights. Throne recently launched an AI coach that engages users in conversation to help them understand the connection between their lifestyle, diet, and what they're experiencing in their gut. The startup is pursuing three business lines: direct-to-consumer sales, clinical partnerships with functional-medicine practitioners, and research collaborations with academic institutions. Long-term, Throne aims to identify early warning signs of colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal conditions—something the company describes as a smoke detector for your colon.
