Cyclosporiasis sickens some people worse – why your diarrhea could be more explosive than others

health

The twenty twenty-six cyclosporiasis outbreak in the United States has sickened over four thousand people, with contaminated produce from Mexico identified as a major source. Per The Conversation, the parasite doesn't directly damage tissues; instead, your immune response to the infection triggers the explosive diarrhea and other symptoms. The severity depends largely on immune strength—young children, older adults, and immunocompromised people face higher risks of severe or prolonged illness. Most healthy adults can clear the infection with a seven to ten day course of antibiotics, though full recovery takes weeks as inflammation subsides.
