Labor only trailed narrowly in a Victorian Newspoll despite Allan’s dismal ratings

politics

On Wednesday, The Conversation reported that Jacinta Allan has resigned as Victorian premier after hitting historic lows—her net approval bottomed at negative forty-six, the worst Newspoll has recorded for any premier. Labor nonetheless remains competitive: the latest poll has the Coalition ahead by fifty-two to forty-eight going into November's state election. Ben Carroll will succeed Allan as premier; legislation to reform the upper house by eliminating group voting tickets is set to pass parliament by week's end.
