Khalida Boufedeche elected as Algeria's first woman parliamentary speaker

Per France 24, Algeria has elected its first woman parliamentary speaker. Khalida Boufedeche, a trained allergist who represents the capital Algiers, has been chosen. She's a member of the ruling National Liberation Front's central committee and is now the country's fourth highest-ranking official.
