Middle East live: US and Saudi Arabia launch strikes on Iraq, target Iran allies

France 24 reports that US and Saudi warplanes struck Iran-backed militants in Iraq on Tuesday, hitting back after more than two dozen drone attacks in recent days. The confrontation escalated early Wednesday when Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it struck and halted three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway through which a large share of the world's seaborne oil passes.
