Russia’s FSB security service accuses Telegram founder Pavel Durov of ‘aiding terrorism,’ issues international arrest warrant

Meduza reports that Russia's Federal Security Service has issued an international arrest warrant for Telegram founder Pavel Durov, accusing him of aiding terrorism by failing to remove channels and bots used to coordinate terrorist attacks and sabotage. The FSB also claims the app doesn't remove channels devoted to mass killings and cyber fraud. Durov has previously characterized such accusations as pretexts to suppress privacy and free speech in Russia. Telegram has required a VPN to access in Russia since summer twenty twenty-five, though the Kremlin recently confirmed it's maintaining contact with Telegram about potentially restoring service.
