Flash floods and storms batter north-east US as deadly weather threatens millions

Severe storms tore through the northeastern United States overnight, triggering flash flooding and tornado warnings across several states. The Guardian reports a thirty-two-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon when lightning struck him in Monroe Township, New Jersey. The extreme weather, which brought torrential rain and high winds, has also knocked out power for hundreds of thousands and disrupted travel across the region.
