Iran rejects Hormuz deal and launches surprise strike on US forces in Jordan

Iran has rejected an Omani-brokered proposal to divide the Strait of Hormuz, declaring the waterway will never return to its prewar situation, according to Euronews. Hours later, Iran's Revolutionary Guard fired multiple ballistic missiles at American forces stationed in Jordan, in what U.S. Central Command is calling an attempted surprise attack. The strait is one of the world's busiest routes for oil shipments, making any standoff there a flashpoint well beyond the region.
