Man defaulted on national service, loses PR status and gets fined

A 23-year-old man in Singapore has lost his permanent resident status and been fined after defaulting on mandatory national service. According to Channel NewsAsia, he believed he could defer service until after completing his university studies in China, unaware of the country's strict conscription requirements.
