North Korean soldier suspected of defecting crosses demilitarised zone into South Korea

A North Korean soldier has crossed the demilitarized zone into South Korea in a suspected defection. According to South Korea's Ministry of Unification, this continues a long-running pattern: more than thirty-four thousand North Koreans have defected to the South since records began in nineteen ninety-eight.
