Two major earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday, killing at least thirty-two people and injuring seven hundred others. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the first quake measured seven point two magnitude and struck about one hundred sixty kilometers west of Caracas. Less than a minute later, a stronger seven point five magnitude tremor followed. The two quakes toppled dozens of buildings into rubble across and around the capital, prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency.
