Live: Fontainebleau fire contained, but southern Europe on high alert as wildfires rage

An uncontained wildfire covering an area four times the size of Paris threatened to flare up again in southwest France on Wednesday, as crews across southern Europe battled a punishing combination of heat, drought and strong winds. In Greece, three firefighters died amid the broader wildfire crisis. There was a bright spot closer to Paris, though: France 24 reports that firefighters gained the upper hand on a flare-up in the Fontainebleau forest and brought it under control.
