The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is pushing for better healthcare, but the funding plans to achieve that are stuck in limbo. Per NPR, Robeson County—home to most tribal members—ranks among the worst counties in the nation for health outcomes. The tribe currently has access to the Indian Health Service, but that coverage is unlikely to adequately meet the region's health needs.
