Per Meduza, Mykhailo Fedorov, dismissed as Ukraine's defense minister in July, told Ukrainska Pravda that his dispute with former armed forces commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi was ideological, not personal. Fedorov stressed the Defense Ministry never blocked decisions from the General Staff, and that President Zelensky cited the military conflict as grounds for his removal. Syrskyi was ousted from his post shortly after, and Fedorov's dismissal prompted street protests demanding his reinstatement.
