The initiative involves native goats, sheep, and cows, and has gained momentum following twenty twenty-five, when Spain experienced its worst wildfire year on record—nearly one hundred nineteen thousand hectares burned, an area roughly double the size of Madrid. Among the animals deployed is the Cachena, a native goat-like cow known for its ability to forage widely and navigate the region's mountainous terrain.
