Firefighters race to extinguish blazes across EU as fire weather breaks records

The European Union is facing record fire weather, The Guardian reports, with conditions since the start of the year running forty-three percent more severe than the end-of-July average of the last two decades. Driven by heat, drought, and wind fueled by carbon pollution, firefighters are racing across the Mediterranean to contain the spreading blazes.
