A forgotten fossil just revealed a new Triassic predator from 210 million years ago

ScienceDaily is reporting on a fossil discovery that's taken nearly eighty years to reveal its secrets. Scientists have identified a previously unknown crocodile relative that prowled New Mexico two hundred ten million years ago during the Triassic period. Named Eosphorosuchus lacrimosa, the jackal-sized predator had a reinforced skull and powerful jaw muscles built into a short snout designed to tackle prey larger than itself.
