A New Jersey man has been sentenced to time served plus a week after ramming his car into a synagogue in Brooklyn earlier this year. The Guardian reports that federal judge Eric Vitaliano called it a property crime rather than a hate crime, and ordered mental health treatment; the man, who had already spent roughly six months in custody, pleaded guilty in May to damaging religious property.
