A liquefied natural gas tanker controlled by QatarEnergy has slipped back through the Strait of Hormuz, the first such vessel tracking data has shown leaving the waterway since July eleventh. The Guardian reports the ship, the Al Areesh, loaded cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal in early July before sailing out of the strait overnight on July twenty-ninth, according to shipping analytics firms Kpler and L-S-E-G. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil and gas corridors, and this comes as the Guardian notes fresh US strikes on Iran and growing fears that the wider Middle East conflict could spread further.
